The absolute worst thing about a back injury!
What was the worst part of suffering through a back injury? You might think I'll say ...
...having to ask my husband to turn on the shower because I couldn't.
...not being able to cook and clean for my family.
...spending 84 solid hours on the couch.
...not being able to exercise and be my usual active self.
...not being able to lift a gallon of milk or a Brita Water pitcher.
...not being able to tie my tennis shoes to go to the doctor's office.
...having to ask someone to drive me to the doctor's office.
...not being able to go to worship and fellowship with the brethren.
...missing a sermon by Elder Kenan McWhertor!
Nope! Though the last 2 were really awful, none of those even come close to being the worst part of my back injury!
The absolute worst thing was not being able to pick up my Bible! Wow! God just showed me that I really take for granted every day the ability to lift my Bible! The Bible is such a gift. It is the way I hear the words of my Saviour and my God! It's the way God sanctifies and convicts me on a daily basis! It is the means by which God keeps me in a deep and intimate relationship with Christ and my fellow Christians. The Word is essential for life! I can't live without my Bible!
Of course, during that time, my husband and son both read Scripture to me and I was able toward the end to hold a tiny New Testament to read on my own. But, what joy filled my soul the moment I was able to lift my full-sized Bible and read it again! Glory! What a great and majestic God He is, who makes it possible for me to hold His Word in my hand on a daily basis! How could I have ever taken that for granted? Ohh, my soul!
"Your testimonies are wonderful; Therefore my soul observes them. The unfolding of Your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple. I opened my mouth wide and panted, for I longed for Your commandments. Turn to me and be gracious to me, after Your manner with those who love Your name. Establish my footsteps in Your Word, and do not let any iniquity have dominion over me." (Psalm 119:129-133)
Lord, thank you for Your Word!

Dear Colleene,
ABC NEWS is launching a new project addressing the topic of pain (physical ailments, arthritis, sports rehabilitation, migraines, injuries, etc).
Our Pain Management project is the third in our "On Call" series of ground-breaking, highly popular and informative web series hosted by ABC's Senior Medical Correspondent, Dr. Tim Johnson.
We have receieved hundreds of videos over the past year--people offering their stories of dealing with medical issues like breast cancer and diabetes.
You can view some of their stories here http://abcnews.go.com/Health/OnCallPlus/ and here: http://abcnews.go.com/Health/DiabetesResource/
We are contacting you to ask to share your back pain!
ABC News is looking for video submissions on either of the following two topics:
1) Video diary: your short home video describing your experience of living with pain.
2) Have questions for an expert? Record and submit your video to ABC News Medical Team.
Do you own a digital camera? Most cameras have a video function that allows the user to record 30 second-1 minute videos. Once recorded, you can upload the video to your computer the same way you'd view digital snapshots!
ABC News is specifically requesting 15-45 second videos.
HOW TO SUBMIT:
1) Via cell phone
Record a 15-45 second clip and email it to: icaught@abcnews.go.com
2) Via the web:

Yes, the word of God is precious - so much so that I was burned at the stake for translating it. To Christ be the glory!
