Faithful to cleanse
"The earth is the Lord's, and all it contains, the world, and those who dwell in it. For He has founded it upon the seas and established it upon the rivers. Who may ascend into the hill of the Lord? And who may stand in His holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who has not lifted up his soul to falsehood and has not sworn deceitfully. He shall receive a blessing from the Lord and righteousness from the God of his salvation." (Psalm 24:1-5)
After reading this passage of Scripture today, I just want to say that if it weren't for the faithfulness of the only faithful One---that is God, then not one could come into His holy presence. Not one could claim to have clean hands or a pure heart. All of us have lifted up our souls to falsehood and have sworn deceitfully. "If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us." (1 John 1:8) But thanks be to God that He is faithful to His own. He does promise that "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" so that we may come to him with our hands having been declared clean and our hearts having been declared pure. (1 John 1:9) Today I am just rejoicing in the faithfulness of my God in light of my filth and unfaithfulness. I am a wretch yet He is always glorious! I am a liar yet He is always true! I am an idolator yet He is the One and only Triune God who is deserving of all worship, honor and praise! May His name be lifted up! May He be seen as He is --- majestic and sovereign! May I never take for granted His faithfulness! May I never forget how great a sacrifice was made in order that I may be declared clean, pure, and righteous! Thank You Jesus for laying down Your life and for taking it up again that Your people might be saved and come into Your holy presence someday in glory!
