The Glory Driven Life

"To this end we pray for you always, that our God will count you worthy of your calling, and fulfill every desire for goodness and the work of faith with power, so that the name of our Lord Jesus will be glorified in you, and you in Him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ."
(2 Thess. 1:11-12)

There are so many books filling the shelves of our bookstores today which purport to teach the meaning and purpose of our lives.  According to the Bible, finding the purpose for our lives is not complicated.  There is only one purpose for any created thing, whether animal, tree, rock, redeemed person, damned person...anything and everything.  The beginning and the end of all things...the "prime mover of the universe", as my brilliant husband likes to call it, is the unending and magnificent glory of GOD!

"Everyone who is called by My name, and whom I have created for My glory, whom I have formed, even whom I have made."  (Isaiah 43:7)

God created all things so that His glory would be made manifest!  We were made to tell of His glory!  "Let heaven and earth praise Him, the seas and everything that moves in them." (Psalm 69:34)  His creation tells of His glory!  We, who have been chosen by Him before the foundation of the world to be His people, who have been redeemed by the painful and bloody sacrifice of Christ, were made to display His glory as objects of His mercy.  We were made to magnify Him in absolutely everything we do, say, think, and feel.   Though every human deserves damnation for his sin and rebellion, God chooses to glorify Himself in saving some of us in a glorious display of matchless love and infinite mercy.  Amazing!

So, when I love my  husband, it's for God's glory!  When I serve someone a meal...it's for God's glory.  When I clean my bathrooms, it's for God's glory.  When I study hard and learn something awesome in the Word, it's for God's glory.  When I sit down and try to formulate thoughts and teachings for the edification and upbuilding of the body of Christ, it's for God's glory.  When I teach my son in homeschool, it's for God's glory.  All things are done that God may be glorified!

"Whoever speaks, is to do so as one who is speaking the utterances of God;  whoever serves is to do so as one who is serving by the strength which God supplies;  so that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belongs the glory and dominion forever and ever.  Amen."  (1 Peter 4:11)

"Whether, then, you eat or drink or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God."
(1 Corinthians 10:31)

"For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things.  To Him be the glory forever.  Amen."  (Romans 11:36)

"Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever.  Amen."  (1 Timothy 1:17)

Oh Lord!  May you count me worthy of the calling to be Yours.  Lord, Your Spirit in me desires to do goodness and to live in a way that is pleasing to You.  You ultimately desire to glorify Yourself.  Use me!  Use me!  I want to bring You glory!  Oh, make my heart, mind and flesh to concur with Your Spirit living within me.  Please Lord, be glorified in my life, in my thinking, in my action and service, in my study and writing, in my relationship with my husband and child, friends and family.  Lord, You are everything!  You alone deserve all glory, honor and praise! I pray, Lord, that You would adjust my thinking and heart so that I see you as central and supreme at all times.  May I never dishonor you with my weakness and unbelief.  May my lips praise You continually and may my arms cling to the cross, where my salvation is found.
